Great question, glad you asked! We at Mercy Counseling Services believe there are always three areas to look at. In our counseling sessions, we take the time to ask questions about the three parts of you. As a human being, we all have a spirit, a soul and a body. Anxiety tends to be a fear or a worry of some sort. It would be wise to look at what is happening in and through in these 3 areas of our life. Here are a few examples of how addressing anxiety may look like during your sessions with a wonderful counselor at Mercy Counseling.
Body: How is your sleep going these days? How is your nutrition lately? Anxiety can arise from unstable sleeping habits as well as from inconsistent nutrition. These are just two areas to consider in addressing anxiety from the perspective of the body.
Soul: What are you consuming on tv or on your cell phone? How much screen time do you average daily. What is causing tension these days? These are a just a few areas to explore in identifying stressors that may be creating anxiety in your life.
Spirit: How is your prayer life? How often do you read the Bible? Do you have any bible verses on fear or anxiety memorized? These areas of reading the Bible and praying are a good starting point to see how we are fighting back against anxiety in a spiritual way. Ephesians 6:17 reminds us that the Holy Spirit has given us a sword, which is the word of God! Let's use it!
Thank you for reading, these are just a few starting points in gaining a fuller understanding on where your anxiety may be stemming from. Team up with a wonderful counselor from Mercy Counseling today and get support!
